Force 5 Sports Racing Team and Triathlon Club!

The Force 5 Sports Racing Team, a multi-sport club, came to reality in 2005 from a group of athletes of various expertise and abilities on the shoreline. The core group began masters swim training in the fall of 2003 and the training soon expanded to cycling and running sessions and social gatherings. This social interaction created some great friendships and 11 members of the group all went down to St. Petersburg, Fla in April 2005 to participate in the St. Anthony's Triathlon. After such a great trip, the group returned and the Team was created on the following criteria:

  • Social interaction and camaraderie                      Information sharing and group support
  • Acceptance - regardless of ability                         Group workouts and Training sessions
  • Opportunity to improve individual goals                Creating an identity

Today the Team is still a small group of athletes that love to train and race, but has expanded to approximately 40 members. From our origin in 2005, Dave Parcells was our President and driving force to the group. After his untimely passing in 2007 we would now like to honor him with a commerative in our logo, and keep the teams‘ mission statement going as he originally wrote it, farewell Dave.

In marine terms, FORCE is a gauge of wind speed. Force 5 is a strong and fast wind of 19-24 mph and can cause significant waves of 3-5 ft! In order to swim in Force 5 winds, you need to be tough physically and mentally!

So bottom line …Force 5 stands for strength, toughness, mental focus and determination …fast or slow!
Isn't that what we are all about?
